Raketa 2614.H
About the watch
This Raketa has a 2614.H movement, which has an interesting quick set date feature: you have to pull the crown past the time setting position in order to advance the date by one day.
The watch arrived in a rather poor condition to me.
Issues found
- the case plating was worn out
- the crystal had a crack in it
- the movement looked dirty—it probably hasn’t have a service in a while
- the watch performed very poorly (extremely low amplitude around 130°); the main cause turned out to be a worn out lower hole for mainspring barrel which almost took an oval shape
Repairs
In order to fix this watch following fixes have been applied:
- frontal part of the case and the crystal have been replaced
- lower plate has been replaced
- endshakes have been adjusted to accommodate for the new plate and to fix all the previous adjustment issues
- the endshakes adjustments also allowed me to get rid of the shim usually put under the balance cock from the factory. This change is very good for future services of the watch since these shims tend to cause random changes to the watch performance depending on how exactly they’re installed
Results
The watch performs very well after the service. The results for daily in different positions I took vary from around –4 to +7 seconds per day, which is quite decent for this movement grade and is well within the manufacturer’s original tolerance of –20…+40 second per day.
The watch got a new Barton strap and is ready to find a new owner.
